My wife and I do a "Need/Want" reality check before buying anything. We also go though things in the cupboard - if you come across something you didn't know you had, you probably don't need it. So unless it has sentimental/family value it will either go to the salvos or sold on marketplace.

Problem with Amex is that half the retailers punch you in the face with transaction fees while the other half just flat out refuse it. Makes it pointless for Australian markets.

Can I ask what your current credit score is from all the churning?

I started with $83k in debt and thanks for indexing its not around $95k . Buy the EOFY I’ll have paid 9k towards it. I’m gonna chuck all my tax back towards it plus around $25k of my own money. I can’t stand having this debt hanging over my head. Also seeing 10% of my pay disappear each week hurts. This whole indexing thing was NOT made clear to me. Without making extra payments I’d be paying this off for 20 years thanks to indexing

Hi Raymond, I have a business in Australia that’s spending a lot of money with suppliers looking to get a credit card for the business to earn qantas points however none of my suppliers accept American Express, which card would be best for me? Not worried about big yearly fees

I'm glad to see an Aussie investor recommending an international ETF. I just did an analysis video of VAS on my channel and found it to be quite risky.

I have the original Amex essential card with 0 dollar annual fee and gives me 1.25 points per dollar spent. Never closing that card down

All you need is a really nice AMEX business card (QBR or Platinum), and a 28 Degree Global Latitude MCard for international expenses, without any fees whatsoever (both intl transaction fees and its even got $0 annual fee).

Hi Raymond, great video on the insight to this new AMEX card option. I do have a question regarding something off topic, cannot seem to find any answers on reddit. I've recently got my NAB Qantas Signature card because of the lucrative sign up bonus of 90k points I believe. Once I spend the $3000 as per their sign up terms, will the points automatically go into my Qantas FF account or do I have to go into my Qantas Money app to link the NAB card first to be eligible for the points as that is a manual link not specific anywhere which makes me worried. Furthermore anyone recently opened the Qantas premier card? It has been almost a month since I activated and received the card but it is still not showing up in the Qantas money app nor online. Have called Qantas a record breaking 6 times in the last 3 weeks only to get false promises of resolving the issue over and over. One thing I would highly commend about AMEX is their superior customer service and issue solving abilities. If anyone has this Qantas issue please let me know I truly hope no one is affected like I am.

I went from Platinum Edge to Essentials a few years ago when Amex basically halved the value of their rewards program. Currently they are offering me 25k points to upgrade to the Platinum Edge, no thanks, I will hang onto the free Essentials for as long as I could, and if Amex ever forces me to move to another card, then I guess it will be goodbye for me.

You did mention in your previous videos that you are closing all your Amex cards as you want to wait for 18 months to sign up for a platinum card . Is that plan on hold now? And yes, I am an Amex Essential card holder as well and Amex did reach out to me too for the upgrade.

No sign up bonus for existing customers. Not really interested then.

Still not many stores accept it so it makes it hard to accumulate points and the sign up bonus...especially with a fee now. Probably why they are offering more points for certain purchases because there's only limited stores that accept it. MC/VISA reward are probably better. It would be good to see your budget/shops that accepts and translate it into points. Then convert that to dollar figures to see if it's worth it.

I had a similar experience to you - had an Essential credit card and then was offered to upgrade to the Platinum Edge or Explorer for the same upgrade bonus recently. Went with the Explorer upgrade since I fly quite a bit 😅
